Viren Mantri teaches senior executives at Singapore Management University, where he is Associate Faculty in the Executive Development division. He designs and delivers programs for senior executives on quantum readiness, AI governance, cybersecurity, blockchain, digital currencies, and tokenization.
He has spent more than three decades in technology, cybersecurity, and risk, most of it in regulated financial services. He has held senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank, SC Ventures, McAfee, UBS, and KPMG, and did earlier development work at Citibank in India and the UAE.
As Chief Information Security Officer at SC Ventures, Standard Chartered Bank’s venture-building platform, he led cybersecurity across 20 fintech ventures. The ventures worked in digital banking, supply chains, cryptocurrency, and tokenization. Before SC Ventures, he spent many years at Standard Chartered in cyber architecture, design, operations, governance, risk, and compliance.
Earlier, he led Strategic Security Services at McAfee across Asia and ran global security monitoring at UBS. At KPMG, he supervised risk consulting across banking, telecommunications, healthcare, and government. He has engaged with regulators in several jurisdictions and has written board papers and executive briefings.
He founded Grey Orbits, a cybersecurity and risk advisory practice based in Singapore. Through it, he advises boards, investors, and executives on artificial intelligence, digital currencies, and post-quantum cryptography. He has delivered engagements in Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.
He is the author of the Cybersecurity Model for Startups, the Framework for Cyber Insurance, and the PETALS™ Framework for AI Governance. He writes on the convergence of AI, digital currencies, and quantum disruption.
He holds a Master of Technology in Artificial Intelligence Systems from the National University of Singapore. He also holds an MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mumbai. He is a certified AI Governance Professional.
