Bitcoin and Ethereum after Google’s elliptic-curve estimate – Free Webinar
A free one-hour webinar from Quantum Academy and Applied Quantum on what the 2026 quantum estimates mean for Bitcoin, Ethereum and other digital assets.
Google estimated in March 2026 that breaking 256-bit elliptic-curve keys would take fewer than 500,000 physical qubits. Bitcoin and Ethereum signatures use a 256-bit elliptic curve.
On October 13, Coinbase published technical priorities for Bitcoin’s post-quantum migration, which it called a multi-year effort, and cited BIP-360 among the candidate designs.
For digital asset custodians and exchanges, protocol and wallet developers, and the risk and compliance teams that oversee them.
What we cover
- Which Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses expose a public key, and what that means for quantum risk
- What the 2026 estimates change for custody and key management
- The migration proposals under discussion, including BIP-360
- What custodians and exchanges can do before the protocols change
The format
60 minutes, live online from 13:00 to 14:00 UTC: about 45 minutes of teaching, then 15 minutes for your questions. Registration is free, and everyone who registers receives the recording.
The full course is the Quantum-Safe Digital Assets Intensive. Dates and booking are on the course page.
