An eight-hour planning workshop, taught live online in two four-hour sessions, in which issuers, acquirers and processors draft a post-quantum program plan and a year-one roadmap

CHICAGO, November 4, 2026 – Quantum Academy will teach the Quantum-Safe Payments Intensive, an eight-hour workshop for payment organizations planning a post-quantum migration, live online on November 24 and 25, 2026. The workshop takes place in two four-hour sessions, from 07:00 to 11:00 UTC each day, for participants in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

A live online seat costs US$1,499. We designed this intensive for issuers, acquirers, processors, payment service providers, schemes and terminal manufacturers. Participants need no background in cryptography. Quantum Academy recommends sending a mixed group from one organization, with at least one person from payment HSM operations. Many of the workshop’s sequencing decisions concern HSM refresh and certification.

No single organization controls a payment chain. Card schemes and payment system operators set requirements as conditions of market access. Each payment HSM needs two certifications. Point-of-sale terminals and ATMs are typically replaced every 7 to 15 years. In Phase 2 of Project Leap, published in December 2025, the BIS Innovation Hub, the Bank of Italy, the Bank of France, Deutsche Bundesbank, Nexi-Colt and Swift tested post-quantum signatures on liquidity transfers between central banks.

Participants work from their own HSM, terminal and vendor records, or from a sample payments processor that Quantum Academy provides. In the first session, participants map the payment chain and identify who controls each part. They also draft a program charter and business case. They plan to collect data once for both the post-quantum inventory and their PCI DSS Requirement 12.3.3 evidence, then score and tier the estate.

In the second session, participants record each payment HSM’s FIPS 140-3 validation and PCI PTS HSM approval in a certification gate calendar, and map the dates that card schemes, Swift and settlement operators set. They finish by assembling a year-one plan by quarter, with KPIs a board can read. The instructor reviews each plan before the session ends.

Participants leave with first versions of the program’s working documents, including an estate map, an HSM register, an external dependency map and the year-one plan. They also receive the course handbook, a PDF copy of Quantum Ready, Marin Ivezic’s book on PQC migration, and a certificate of completion.

Quantum Academy recommends its Quantum-Safe Payments course as preparation, though participants can enroll without it. Quantum Academy will teach the intensive again live online on February 2 and 3, 2027, for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, and in person in Amsterdam on April 29, 2027, where a seat costs US$1,999.

Organizations that want to work through confidential detail with only their own colleagues present can book the intensive as private team training at training@quantumacademy.com. The course page has the full outline and a justification letter for internal approval.
