Live online sessions with places available start October 19, 2026, and nine of the 11 certifications are earned by proctored, scenario-based exam
CHICAGO, October 3, 2026 – Quantum Academy, a training and certification provider for post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum technologies, opened for business on October 2 with 68 courses and 11 professional certifications. Its first sessions are sold out. Live online training is on sale now at quantumacademy.com, and the earliest sessions with places available start on October 19, 2026.
Candidates earn nine of the 11 certifications by passing a closed-book, scenario-based exam, and at launch a Quantum Academy proctor who did not teach the candidate supervises each sitting live over video. Candidates earn the Certified Chief Quantum Officer (CCQO) credential through a capstone that two assessors who did not teach the cohort mark independently. Quantum Academy awards the Post-Quantum Certified Expert (PQCX) credential automatically to holders of the active Post-Quantum Certified Manager, Architect and Validator credentials.
“Organizations now have deadlines and budgets for post-quantum migration, and too few people who know how to run one,” said Marin Ivezic, founder of Quantum Academy.
Under Executive Order 14412, issued in June 2026, US federal agencies have until December 31, 2030, to move their high-value assets and high-impact systems, other than national security systems, to post-quantum key establishment. In an ISACA poll of 2,685 digital trust professionals published in April 2025, 7% said they had a strong understanding of NIST’s new post-quantum cryptography standards, and 44% said they had never heard of them.
Ivezic started the Academy after clients of Applied Quantum, a consulting firm he also founded, kept asking the firm to train their staff. Applied Quantum has delivered hundreds of hours of private training, from board briefings to hands-on sessions with the engineers who carry out migrations. Quantum Academy is a brand of Post-Quantum Institute, a company separate from Applied Quantum.
“A client can fairly ask whether training from its own consultants is a pitch for the next engagement,” Ivezic said. “We moved our training into a separate company so employers can judge the courses and the credentials on their merits.”
The first 10 live online sessions with places available start between October 19 and November 12, 2026, beginning with Post-Quantum Foundation on October 19 and including Quantum Risk for CISOs on October 30. The first cohort of the six-week Certified Chief Quantum Officer (CCQO) Program meets on six Saturdays from November 7, 2026, to January 9, 2027.
Live online prices range from US$379 for a short executive or industry session to US$8,499 for the CCQO Program, assessment included. Most live online sessions start at 07:00 UTC for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, or at 15:00 UTC for the Americas, and Quantum Academy has scheduled sessions through June 2027.
Quantum Academy teaches six domains, Quantum Security & PQC, Quantum Computing, Communications & Networking, Sensing & Metrology, Leadership & Strategy, and Quantum AI & Machine Learning. Courses range from the two-hour Quantum Security for Boards to the five-day PQC Practitioner Bootcamp.
For each of 13 industries, the Academy offers a half-day overview and a full-day intensive, and lists the quantum computing, networking and sensing courses that apply to that industry on an industry page. The industries are Financial Services, Payments, Insurance, Digital Assets, Legal & Professional Services, Healthcare, Pharma & Life Sciences, Energy & Utilities, OT & Critical Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Government & Defense, Cloud Providers and Automotive.
Exam fees are US$599 or US$699, and the Academy publishes its rules on eligibility, booking, scoring, retakes and appeals in its Candidate Guide. A candidate who passes receives a digital badge and an entry in a public verification record at a dedicated .pro domain, such as pqcs.pro. Certifications are valid for three years, and holders renew them with 60 continuing professional education credits per cycle and a US$149 annual maintenance fee that covers every credential they hold.
“We proctor every exam because a professional credential should mean more than attendance,” Ivezic said. “These are new credentials, and they’ll earn their reputation through the quality of the assessments and through what the people who hold them go on to do.”
Quantum Academy opened with eight instructors, several of whom hold doctorates in quantum physics, quantum communications, quantum information or cryptography. Between them, the instructors have also managed deployments outside the laboratory, including quantum key distribution links between a bank’s data centers, quantum sensing for operational defense and cryptographic migrations at large enterprises.
Some instructors, Ivezic among them, also work at Applied Quantum. Quantum Academy continues to sign new instructors, including practitioners from other firms, and to add session dates to its schedule.
Ivezic has worked in quantum technology for more than 25 years and in cybersecurity for three decades, including practice leadership roles at IBM, Accenture, PwC and KPMG. He wrote Quantum Ready and Quantum Systems Integration and co-wrote Quantum Sovereignty with Luka Ivezic. He also wrote the Applied Quantum PQC Migration Framework, which is free to download at pqcframework.org.
Teams can book any course as private team training, online or at their own site, with quotes on request from training@quantumacademy.com. Quantum Academy’s next in-person sessions with places available are planned from February 2027 in London, Zurich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Dubai, Washington, Boston and New York. It will open online on-demand courses, including two free one-hour introductions, and memberships at a later date.
Learners on every paid course receive a certificate of completion, the course handbook as a PDF of the full course material, and a PDF of the course’s companion book at no extra cost. Professionals can book live online sessions on the Quantum Academy schedule.
