The former SC Ventures CISO advises boards, investors and executives on AI, digital currencies and post-quantum cryptography
CHICAGO, October 4, 2026 – Viren Mantri, former chief information security officer of Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures and founder of the Singapore advisory practice Grey Orbits, has joined Quantum Academy as a Senior Instructor. Mantri advises boards, investors and executives on cybersecurity and risk in artificial intelligence, digital currencies and post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
Mantri is part of Quantum Academy’s initial group of instructors. The Academy, which opened on October 2, 2026, trains and certifies professionals in PQC and quantum technologies.
At SC Ventures, the venture-building platform of Standard Chartered Bank, Mantri led cybersecurity across 20 fintech ventures in digital banking, supply chains, cryptocurrency and tokenization. Before that, he worked at Standard Chartered for many years in cyber architecture, design, operations, governance, risk and compliance.
As associate faculty at Singapore Management University’s Executive Development division, Mantri designs and delivers programs for senior executives on quantum readiness, AI governance, cybersecurity and digital currencies.
“Banks will have to explain their post-quantum migrations to their boards and their regulators,” said Marin Ivezic, founder of Quantum Academy. “Most of Viren’s work has been in regulated financial services, and he already teaches quantum readiness to senior executives.”
Through Grey Orbits, Mantri writes board papers, executive briefings and risk frameworks on AI adoption, PQC migration and digital asset strategy. Earlier in his career, he led Strategic Security Services for McAfee across Asia, ran global security monitoring at UBS and supervised risk consulting at KPMG.
Mantri is the author of the PETALS Framework for AI Governance, the Cybersecurity Model for Startups and the Framework for Cyber Insurance. He holds a Master of Technology in Artificial Intelligence Systems from the National University of Singapore and is a certified AI Governance Professional.
